Cheryl is the person we need to direct the operations of the County Office of Education. She has the experience and background to:
- advocate for our students, employees, and educational community at the local, state, and federal levels
- transform the County Office of Education into a true service provider to school districts
Please attend this event to support Cheryl’s campaign. Bring friends and family. You can view a flyer for the event here.
See you there!
If you are directed to move to a different classroom at your site (not a move that you request), you may choose one day free of student responsibility (sub coverage) to move your materials or move on your personal time and receive up to eight hours of pay at the Certificated Hourly Rate, currently $33 per hour. You must document your hours and submit a time sheet to your Principal. (See Article 4 - Section 4.1.7, Pay for moving to a new classroom)
If you have been involuntarily transferred to a different site, you may choose two days free of student responsibility or move on your personal time and receive up to 16 hours at the Certificated Hourly Rate”. You must document your hours and submit a time sheet to your Principal. (See Article 5 - Section 5.9.13, Moving pay for transfer to another site).
Class Size Overages
Class size limits are listed in Article 6.
The first day to file a grievance for classes that are over contract class maximums is the 19th student day, which is Wednesday, September 12, 2016. Please contact your MDEA site rep for instructions on how to file a grievance using the special class size grievance form (Appendix E-3 in the contract.) Before filing a grievance, members must informally notify their principals that their class(es) are over contractual limits. Do not agree to accept more students than the contract allows once the class size balancing period has expired, as doing so reduces the amount of teacher time each student receives.
